1867: Alaska, which belonged to Russia, officially becomes possession of the United States.
1748: Treaty of Aix-la-Chapelle: end of the War of the Austrian Succession.
1685: King Louis XIV signs the Edict of Fontainebleau, which revokes the Edict of Nantes signed in 1598 by his grandfather Henri IV, and causes an exodus of French Protestants.
1534: Beginning of the Affair of the placards: Protestant seditious writings are placarded in the main squares of Paris, motivating the first persecutions under François Ier.
1009: The Fatimid Caliph Al-Hakim bi-Amr Allah destroys the original building of the Church of the Holy Sepulcher, as part of his persecutions against Jews and Christians.
