1944 : Georges mandel, former Minister of the Interior of Paul Reynaud, was shot seven times in the chest by French militiamen in the forest of Fontainebleau.

1904: In France, promulgation of a law prohibiting education to all religious congregations.

1807: Napoleon I and the Russian Tsar Alexander I sign the Treaty of peace of tilsit (Russia) following Friedland's French victory in June.

1438: The king of France Charles VII promulgates in Bourges the "Pragmatic sanction". It limits the authority of the pope who is no longer entitled to choose the French bishops.
