The Château de Vaux-le-Vicomte reopens its doors

The Castle of Vaux-le-Vicomte, a 17th century masterpiece by the architect Le Vau, the painter-decorator Charles le Brun and the gardener Le Nôtre, will reopen its doors on Saturday March 17 for the new season, inaugurating a year of celebration of 50 years opening of the domain to the public.

On March 30, 1968, Patrice de Vogüé decided to open the doors of the Château de Vaux-le-Vicomte, his home, to public visits: “Everyone will be invited to Vaux, not to a cold and pompous residence, but with my wife and I, with M. Alfred Sommier, with the Duc de Choiseul, with the superintendent Fouquet ... ”.

Half a century after this decisive turning point in the life of the castle, the current owners are continuing the work of their father: the influence of the castle for the preservation and restoration of this extraordinary heritage.

To celebrate the reopening to the public of the Château and its domain, many events are planned throughout the year, from March 17.
