Once again this year, the royal castle of Blois brings back to life the splendor and the arts of the court during the Renaissance: concerts, balls, musical and theatrical events, dance demonstrations or even ancient fencing shows take you along, throughout the year, encountering history ...
Sound and Light Show in Blois
So Blois is told to you. As soon as night falls, spectators take their places in the middle of the Château courtyard for 45 dazzling minutes evoking famous episodes in the history of the place. The illuminations of the facades and the music give a particular reflection to the architectural diversity of this courtyard which brings together a true panorama of French architecture from the 13th to the 17th century with its four wings of different styles. On a text written by Alain Decaux with original music by Eric Demarsan and staged by André Blanc, the voices of Robert Hossein, Pierre Arditi and Fabrice Luchini tell of the loves, the dramas and the mysteries that, at the Château de Blois, have shaped the history of France.
A festival of special sound effects and giant projections marries the grandiose architecture of the courtyard, plunging spectators into the heart of the action, in a magical world of color and light. The seigniorial room, or room of the States, the Louis XII wing, the famous staircase of the François Ier facade and the Gaston d'Orléans wing: as these successive creations forming four castles in one come to life, it is the whole history of France coming to life. The reunion of Joan of Arc and Gilles de Rais in the chapel, the poetic tournaments organized at the Castle by Charles d'Orléans, the shenanigans of Louis XII with the Archduke of Austria, the complaints of the merchants to François 1st or the sad fate reserved by Henri III for his rival the Duke of Guise - all the illustrious characters who have loved the castle at all times are evoked in this unique spectacle in Europe.
From March 26 to 28 (Easter weekend) and from April 2 to September 18, 2016, every evening (except June 21 and July 13) at 10 p.m. or 10:30 p.m.
